SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF ATTR-CM

Because of the impact of transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) on the heart, the disease often presents with symptoms of heart failure such as fatigue, shortness of breath and peripheral oedema (swelling in the lower legs). Other symptoms related to the build-up of amyloid fibrils throughout the body may also occur.1,2

For people at a high risk of heart failure and showing any of these symptoms, it is important that they talk to their doctor or cardiologist. These signs and symptoms can also occur due to other conditions and they don’t necessarily suggest ATTR-CM. Further consultations and tests are essential to establish a diagnosis of ATTR-CM.
